Dr. Sandesh Shivananda

Dr. Sandesh Shivananda is a neonatologist, health informatician, and quality improvement leader based in Vancouver, Canada. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia and a staff neonatologist at BC Women’s Hospital.
His work focuses on identifying gaps in neonatal care delivery and implementing practical, evidence-informed solutions in real-world clinical settings. He has researched and published in areas including innovative models of neonatal care, clinical decision support at the point of care, implementation of care bundles, and integrating health technologies. Dr. Shivananda brings expertise across neonatology, health informatics, implementation science, quality improvement, organizational leadership, innovation, and team-based care. Through this work, he aims to support high-quality, reliable, and family-centred care that improves outcomes for infants and their families.
