Dr. Ng completed his neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship training at the University of Toronto and has been a staff neonatologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre since 2001. He was the chief of newborn and developmental paediatrics at Sunnybrook from 2013-2023. He is an associate professor of paediatrics at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Ng has been actively involved with the Canadian Neonatal Network (CNN) since 2007. He was the site investigator for EPIQ from 2014-19, and then CNN site investigator from 2020 until present.  He was the co-chair of the EPIQ extreme low gestational age outcome group from 2014-19, and co-chair of the Brain Health Group from 2023-25. Dr. Ng has been a member of the CNN governing board since 2021. Dr. Ng is also involved with other quality improvement initiatives with the Vermont Oxford Network, and he is a member of the board of directors at the Canadian Paediatric Society.
